Ibotta

Ibotta is my most favorite of the coupon apps. It’s also the one that I have used the longest. Ibotta has been the most profitable, too. Once you download the app, you search for offers by store. Some of the offers are available at more than one store, while others are only available at one store. You have to read the offer carefully. Some offers also require you to purchase more than one of the products. Again read carefully! My favorite offer is “any item” for X¢. Most offers range anywhere from 10¢ to $1.50. You can also earn bonuses for redeeming lots of offers and for getting referrals. You can shop at almost every store, even online stores. Aldi is the exception.

Redeeming offers is easy! Just activate the offers you want. Purchase those products. Then upload pictures of your receipt. Sometimes you may have to scan the products UPC to confirm you did, in fact, purchase those products. After submitting your receipt you will get your savings in your account fairly quickly. It is anywhere from a few minutes to a day. Your savings will accrue then you can cash out for gift cards to stores like Amazon or Starbucks. Ibotta also has a referral program. The more friends you get to signup the more rewards you get.

Checkout 51

Checkout 51 is another favorite. For me, it is the hardest to earn money. It has a lot of offers that are store-specific. You also have to redeem offers to get produce offers activated. Offers range from 10¢ to $4. Unlike Ibotta and SavingStar, you can redeem offers after shopping at Aldi. Checkout 51 is not store specific. Every time you upload a receipt with purchases equally $60 or more you can also enter a drawing to win $500. Like SavingStar, you can also attach loyalty cards to your account.

Redeeming your offers is very similar to Ibotta and SavingStar. You need to activate your offers. Purchase the items. Then upload your receipt. Most times you are not required to scan UPCs. Only the higher savings offers require scanning. Getting your savings into your account is very fast. It’s usually a few minutes to a couple hours. Again, Checkout 51 does not have a referral program.

Fetch Rewards

fetch-150x150 My Favorite Coupon Apps

Fetch Rewards has become one of my favorite apps. They claim to be one of the easiest apps to use, but I find it frustrating. You are supposed to upload every receipt to Fetch Rewards, regardless of the store. If you purchased any of the brands on Fetch Rewards, you get points. Featured brands get you more points. There is no scanning of UPCs. The problems start after you submit your receipt. Almost every receipt I’ve uploaded has to have items verified. Meaning they don’t know what you purchased because they can’t decipher what the receipt says. You have to search for the product in their database or manually type in the name. Fetch Rewards also overlooks a lot of products you should be earning points for. You have to resubmit the receipt for missed items. It’s frustrating and time-consuming! Update: Fetch Rewards still has some problems, but overall it has gotten much better.

With Fetch Rewards, you earn points, not dollars. Points are redeemed for gift cards. The more points you have the higher the gift card value. You earn 25 points for every receipt and varying amounts for their brands. Featured brands get you the most points. Fetch Rewards does have a referral program. If you enter my referral code, C9VVH, during signup, you’ll get 2,000 Fetch points ($2.00 in points!) when you complete one receipt. Sign-up bonuses vary.

Cartwheel, now Target Circle

Cartwheel, now Target Circle is Target’s coupon app. It used to be a separate app but now is within the Target app. Target Circle has tons of offers to save money on groceries, apparel, housewares, health, and beauty, etc. Offers range from money off to a percentage off. Some offers can only be used on one item, while others let you purchase multiple items. Offers change daily so check back often. My favorite offers are the 30-60% off offers. Especially the percent off clearance items. Cha-ching!

Target Circle is pretty easy to use. Like the other coupon apps, you have to select the offers you would like to use. They are saved in your Target wallet. When you are checking out in the store, you show the cashier your bar code on your phone. (You could also load your offers on your home computer and print out the bar code.) They will scan it and the savings automatically come off your bill. You can even stack offers with paper coupons and pay with a Target Red Card for triple savings. Target Circle does not have a referral program.

Receipt Hog

Receipt-Hog-1 My Favorite Coupon Apps

Receipt Hog is now the newest coupon app that I am using and I have to say it is becoming my favorite. It gives you coins or sweepstakes entries for uploading receipts. They accept all types of receipts from grocery stores to restaurants and convenience stores. Pretty much any receipt can be upload except written invoices.

Once you upload the receipt you are given coins or sweeps entries. It depends on what type of receipt it is and how much you spent. You also have additional chances to earn coins by completing surveys, earning weekly bonuses, and connecting your email. When you accrue enough coins you can redeem them for gift cards.

This app has a couple other features that give you chances to earn more coins; Spin and Sweeps Entries. Certain receipts and weekly bonuses will give you opportunities to spin the slot machine. The slot machine awards you with coins or nothing. It’s all chance. Sweeps Entries give you a chance to win a large number of coins.

Receipt Hog is very easy to use. I haven’t had any issues with using the app. I’ve only been using it for a few months so I haven’t had the opportunity to redeem coins for a gift card yet. But I’m pretty confident that it will be easy. They do now have a referral program. If you enter my referral code, faz25005, during sign up you’ll earn 5 spins and I’ll earn 10 spins.
